Description:
A blend of Koshu from partner growers in Yamagata and Chardonnay from the estate vineyard in Miyagi, this is a light, mineral driven wine with a delicate profile and just 9% alcohol. The grapes are fermented and aged separately in stainless steel for four months before being blended and finished in neutral French oak for another seven months.

On the nose, green tea and lemon curd. On the palate, pear and lemon peel come through alongside a subtle minerality and soft acidity. Fresh, balanced, and easy to drink, with a long finish.

History:
Chateau Kiri is nestled on a lovely plot of land just below the foot of Mt. Kurikoma, near Tohoku city of Sendai, in Miyagi prefecture. Their winemaking process began in 2017, with 2022 marking the year of their first vintage. From the start, Chateau Kiri has committed to cultivating and fermenting grapes in a way that honors the local ecosystem. Great care is taken to avoid the use of chemical sprays both in the vineyard and the cellar. This unifying principle of care and respect extends to the consumer and distinguishes this recently established winery.

The vinification process at Chateau Kiri focuses on a natural transparent style the puts the grapes first. Choosing to harvest on the earlier side, allows the grapes qualities to take center stage on the palate.
